Maggie started swimming at age 2 and began competing with the London Aquatic Club at age 8. Outside of swimming, Maggie enjoys reading and sewing and has played violin since the age of 5 and clarinet since age 12. Mac Neil completed 4 years at the University of Michigan before moving to Louisiana where she recently earned her master’s of science at LSU in sports management. Maggie has been one of Canada’s greatest success stories in recent years with her performances at the Olympics and World championships. She continues to be a role model for many and displays great leadership on the National team.

Olympic butterfly champion
At 23 years old, Maggie is an Olympic champion and two-time world record holder. In 2021, she won three Olympic medals in Tokyo, setting an Americas continental record at her very first Games, and broke the 50m backstroke world record in Abu Dhabi. A 100 metre butterfly event specialist, she is one of Canada's most accomplished swimmers.
