Tatjana is the swimmer to be beaten when it comes to breaststroke. She’s the African record holder for 100m & 200m breaststroke, 5 x Africa female swimmer of the year and has been on the podium in every international competition she has competed in since 2017 including the World Championships, the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games.
From missing out to setting records
Tatjana narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics, missing the time by 1 split-second. Five years later In the 200m breaststroke final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Tatjana stunned the world by setting a new world record with a time of 2:18.95, marking South Africa’s first gold medal in an individual women’s swimming event in over 25 years.
